31 5 96 BFPS 2519 The Zeppelin Raids on Britain 19th January 1915 to 13 April 1918.Flown in Piper Aztec from Ursel Near Bruges over Berchem St Agathe a former Zeppelin Base to Ostende where LZ 37 was detected by R A J Warneford on its return from an abortive raid on England in the early morning of 7th June 1915. Flown cachet on the back Flown in Herclues of No 70 Sqn from RAF Lyneham to RAF Brize Norton to load passengers and cargo and then to RAF Bruggen overflying on the way the former Somme Battlefields and in particular the area around Fiers - Courcelette and Martinpuich where tanks were in action for the 1st time on 15th September 1916. The cover was then flown on to Spilt from were it returned to RAF Lyneham via RAF Brize Norton.
