In 1941, Cutler served with the 2/5th in the Syria - Lebanon Campaign. During the period between 19 June and 6 July, in the Merdjayoun- Damour area of Syria, and as part of the Battle of Merdjayoun, Lieutenant Cutler's exploits included repairing a telephone line under heavy fire, repulsing enemy tank attacks, setting up an outpost to bring fire to a road used by the enemy and, with a 25-pound field gun, demolishing a post threatening the Australian advance. Later, during the Battle of Damour, he was seriously wounded and when rescued 26 hours later his leg had to be amputated. Cutler received the Victoria Cross for his actions in the Merdjayoun-Damour area, and was medically discharged in 1942
The Rt Hon J Enoch Powell Powell enlisted in the Royal Warwickshire Regiment. He served as a Conservative Member of Parliament (MP) (1950-74), Ulster Unionist Party (UUP) MP (1974-1987), and Minister of Health (1960-63). He attained most prominence in 1968, when he made a controversial speech on immigration, now widely referred to as the "Rivers of Blood" speech. In response, he was dismissed from his position as Shadow Defence Secretary (1965-68) in the Shadow Cabinet of Edward Heath. Thirty years later Heath commented that Powell's remarks on the "economic burden of immigration" had been "not without prescience

80th Anniv Royal Fleet Auxiliary Arthurian Legend FDC Signed A Pitt Falklands War
3 sep 85 BFPS 1880 Arthurian Legend Full set of 4 flown in wessex of no 772 naval air squadron from RNAS Bedivere.80th Anniv of the Royal Fleet Auxiliary
Personally Signed by Captain C G Butterworth Chief Marine Superintendent and Captain A F Pitt Former Captain of RFA Sir Percivale now Marine Superintendent LSL.
At the start of the Falklands War in 1982 RFA Sir Percivale was among the first to sail with the Amphibious Task Group from England. She operated in the waters immediately around the Falkland Islands from D-Day, 21 May 1982, to the eventual fall of Port Stanley on 14 June 1982.
Throughout the period, Captain Pitt displayed considerable qualities of leadership, cooperation, and courage in commanding a ship which was ever ready to perform a task. RFA Sir Percivale was called to duties far beyond that that would reasonably be expected of her, considering her very light armament and her normal role.During that time the ship came under repeated air attacks while at anchor by day in San Carlos Water and was the first Landing Ships Logistic to make the unescorted ammunition run to the exposed and possible, mined anchorage at Teal Inlet where she had to offload in daylight, initially without the benefit of an area air defence system. RFDC63 10 May 88 BFPS 2162 Transport & Communications Full set of 4. 60th Anniversary of the Opening of the Croydon Airport Terminal. flown in Gazelle to the site of the now Disuned Croydon Airport where a landing was made as close as possible to the former Airways Terminal, Signed by Sir Peter Masefield
learnt to fly at Marshalls and took a good degree in Engineering.

From a very young age he had been fascinated by aircraft and took his first job, in 1935, in the design department of Fairey Aviation. But soon he wanted a wider field and a wider audience. He found this in aviation journalism, working for The Aeroplane, and later, in 1940, becoming aviation correspondent for The Sunday Times and a wartime aviation writer.

Although already having a private pilot's licence, he was denied entry into the RAF and Transport Command because of his eyes (he always had to wear glasses). But somehow he managed to get the United States Army Air Force to accept him on bombing missions as occasional co-pilot and air gunner, with near fatal results. He was lucky to escape with his life after his B17 was shot up over Le Bourget and just managed to limp home to East Anglia.Certified Copy No of 1300

Mr T Gould VC Holder was petty officer in the Royal Navy during the Second World War
On 16 February 1942 north of Crete, in the Mediterranean, HM Submarine Thrasher, after attacking and sinking a supply ship, was itself attacked. Thrasher was subjected to a three hour depth charge attack and aerial bombingLater, after surfacing, two unexploded bombs were discovered in the gun-casing. Petty officer Gould and Lieutenant Roberts removed the first one without too much difficulty, but the second bomb had penetrated the side plating of the gun emplacement, and then the deck casing above the pressure hull. Roberts and Gould entered the confined space (which was no more than 2 ft high in places), and lying flat, wormed past deck supports, battery ventilators, and drop bollards. The petty officer then lay on his back with the 150 lb bomb in his arms while the Williams dragged him along by the shoulders. "It was then a matter of the two of us, lying horizontally, pushing and pulling the bomb back through the casing. It was pitch black and the bomb was making this horrible ticking noise while the submarine was being buffeted by the waves Meanwhile, Thrasher was surfaced, stationary, and close inshore to enemy waters. If the submarine was forced to crash dive, both men would drown. It was 50 minutes before they got the bomb clear, wrapped it in sacking, and dropped it over the side.

The police officer grabbed Bentley, when Craig shot him, grazing his shoulder. Despite his injury, the unarmed Fairfax chased Bentley and managed to arrest and subdue him. More officers arrived at the scene and Constable Sidney Miles scaled the roof, only to be shot dead by Craig, who then jumped from the roof after expending his ammunition, injured himself upon landing and was arrested

In the Anzio Beach head during the advance to the Campoleone feature, a detachment of No 2 platoon of a field Company, R E was in support of a troop of a Battalion, Royal Tank Regiment. A minefield was reported and the tanks were completely held up. The RE Detachment went forward and commenced to detect and clear the mines under enemy small arms and shell fire, five of the sappers being wounded. In spite of this heavy opposition Sapper Awcock, with complete disregard for his own personal safety while being sniped and shelled assisted in the clearing of a gap in the minefield. During the whole time he was at work he was in full view of the enemy and it was by his devotion to duty courage and cool example that the work was completed and the tanks able to advance
