Signed Lieut Dixon 17 Aero Sqdn USA .On Combats in the Air Army Form W 3348 Squadron 17 Aero Sqn, Report dated 23 August 1918 Type and No of aeroplane Sopwith Camel B9263Time approx 6.45 P.M. to 7.05 P.M. Armament Vickers. Duty P. Pilot Lieut F A Dixon Height 1000 feet Observer None Locality S.W. apaume 57c/M.31 and 32 Narrative. Time 6.45 hrs p.m. Dropped 4 - 20 ib bombs on lond convoy of enemy trucks. Fired 200 rounds from 1000 feet. Saw bombs of Lieut Tipton's drop in and also some of Lieut who appeared to be having trouble . Some of the bombs from the first aircraft overturned two trucks. Practically all the bombs were direct hits on this transport coloumn, one truck being completely destroyed and the other damaged. Much confusion was noticed among the personnel. Dropped four bombs on transport of about 25 horses amd motor vehicles moving towards lines on road between Bazentia-Le-Petit and Flers.Fired about 400 rounds,saw drivers and horses scattering in the fields. Duty LLB. Pilot Lieut J F Campbell Height 100 Ft Observer None Locality Martinpuich - Le Barque read. Narrative . At 2.pm I dropped four bombs on enemy transport hitting varies horse deawn vehicles.I also fired about 500 to 600 rounds of MG into them and saw my bullets strike a number of enemy personel who fell.
