Special Cover Personally Signed by Signed by Captain Charles Conrad Astronant Commander of Apollo 12 . Third Space flight. Conrad was selected for Astronaut Service in 1962 His first space flight was in August 1965 as pilot on the on the 8 day Gemini V mission. With Command Pilot Gordon Cooper, this flight established a space endurance record of 190 hours 56 minutes. A second mission on Gemini 11 was launched on 12th September 1966, when Captain Conrad was Command Pilot.With his colleague Richard Gordon established a new space altitude record of 850 statute miles and the first completion of the fully automatic controlled re entry. A third space flight followed in November 1969 as Commander of Appollo 12. This was second lunar landing mission, with Pete becoming the third man in history on the surface, with his colleague Alan Bean they executed the first precision lunar landing in their module INTREPID and spent 7 hours 45 minutes on the Moon.Charles Conrd flew a fourth mission as Commander on Skylab 12 . black and white photo with full details.Certified Copy 85 of 220 signed by the project officer.
Carried into space aboard the Space Shuttle "Challenger" this NASA cover is a key item for a Space topical collection. These are the first covers to be carried into space aboard the Space Shuttle and then made available to the public. In 1983, the United States Postal Service arranged with NASA to carry 165,000 covers on the "Challenger" spacecraft.
